Chris Jericho has been a prominent member of this roster since WWA. Chris Jericho immediately came in and won the WWA Canadian Heavyweight Title. Chris Jericho would lose the championship, but went after another championship-the WWA Junior Heavyweight Championship. Chris Jericho would win the WWA/GPW Junior Heavyweight Championship a record five times!

In the summer of 2000 would prove to be the time Chris Jericho broke from the “mid card” pack and into the main events. After Chris Jericho lost the GPW United States Championship, GPW Staff thought it was a tremendous time to introduce a new face to the main event picture. Chris Jericho started his infamous feud with Chris Benoit during July, after Benoit won the GPW Championship. Chris Jericho finally got his shot at the World Championship. Jericho won the title from Benoit in the first of many classic bouts to come. Benoit got his rematch for the championship at the Bound By Blood pay-per-view on July 29th. The match was signed as a 2 Out of 3 Falls contest. Benoit would win that night in a grueling battle after Benoit hit Jericho with the GPW title belt when the referee was down and then locked on the Crippler Crossface. When the ref got up, he noticed Jericho was passed out and he called for the bell. Benoit would leave Bound By Blood a two time GPW World Champion. Jericho wanted a rematch and he got one. It was signed for Summer Sizzler-our biggest pay per view to date. The stipulation for the match was a Ladder Match. What a match they had. These two would do moves we never knew could be performed. Chris Benoit would retain his belt in the thrilling bout. However, after the match was over the Goldenboy Gene Banton would confront Benoit.

Just a month earlier, the two had a tremendous match in a title versus title match. Chris Jericho joined Gene by his side. Jericho had a chair in his hand as well. Jericho then grinned at Benoit and then knocked GENE out with the chair shot heard around the world. The two rivals would embrace each other as the fans looked on in shock. It was revealed that Craig Suchodolski was behind the whole thing as he had formed the Canadian Alliance. The members included Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Edge, Christian and The Assassin. After a while, the Canadian Alliance was disbanded, but Benoit and Jericho was involved in another group, the Four Horsemen. During this time, Benoit lost the World Title. Benoit and Jericho would go on to form a tag-team. The duo would win the GPW World Tag-Team Championships at Bad Blood from Titan and Battlin’ Ben-Power & Precision. A month later, the two would lose the championships to the unlikely team of Jordan Williams and The Rock.

For a few months, Chris Jericho would bounce from feud to feud: going against guys like Triple H and The Rock. Chris Jericho entered the King of the Ring tournament. Chris Jericho made it all the way to the finals, before being defeated by Jordan Williams.

However, Chris would get his payback and beat Williams for the GPW Intercontinental Championship. Jericho would be the last GPW  Intercontinental Champion.

When GCW formed, Jericho was involved in a match to determine the new National Heavyweight Champion. He did so by beating Amber Diamond in July. Jericho would hold the belt until October when he lost it to Logan Kaine. Days before he lost the title, he won the GCW World Tag Team Championships with Kurt Angle as apart of the Submission Commission. Jericho and Angle would lose the belts to Double Impact on GCW’s first Pay Per View, Highway To Hell in a First Blood Elimination bout. However, Jericho would regain the GCW World Tag Team Championships from Double Impact, but with a different partner: Chris Benoit-his rival from GPW.

However, due to fighting amongst the two, they would vacate the championship. Jericho would be involved in a lethal lottery tournament to determine new champions. Jericho teamed up with Golden Glenn to form Team Modesty. They would lose in the finals to Positively Sexy. However, Team Modesty would win the championships from Positively Sexy at Bad Blood. Team Modesty survived a triple threat TLC match, which included Positively Sexy and the Mobley Congregation. Team Modesty would hold the championships for three months before losing the belts to The Outsiders at Freedom Fight. Team Modesty would team up one last time to regain their belts, but they lost in a match that including the team that won, Perfect Dynasty. At GCW Revival, Chris Jericho squared off with GCW World Champion, Kurt Angle. The former Tag Team Championship partners would have a thrilling non-title 2 out of 3 Falls match with Jericho picking up the win after a ton of interference, which earned him a championship bout against Angle. Chris Jericho finally got back to the top of the mountain when he beat Angle for the championship on January 3rd in Los Angeles. Chris Jericho just recently defeated Damien Diamond and Kurt Angle in a terrific TLC Bout at Revolution. However, let me ask you all this, is Chris Jericho underrated?

The question says it all. Just look at all the titles he’s won, look at the people he’s beaten and look at his consistent contribution to GCW. Chris Jericho is the most CONSISTENT performer GCW has ever had. He’s never taken a break for personal reasons. He’s been there when GCW has needed to him.

Chris Jericho is the most unselfish person on the GCW roster. Chris Jericho has consistently worked hard and it’s the number one reason Chris Jericho is the current (as of press time) GCW World Heavyweight Champion. Chris Jericho is also the most UNDERRATED GCW superstar. Let’s examine this, shall we?

Let’s look at his title history for a moment. He’s a multiple time WWA Junior Heavyweight Champion, WWA Canadian Champion, GPW World Heavyweight Champion, GPW Intercontinental Champion, 2 time GPW United States Heavyweight Champion, two time GPW World Tag-Team Champion, the first ever GCW National Heavyweight Champion, three time GCW World Tag-Team Champion and current (as of press time) GCW World Heavyweight Champion. I mean look at this impressive title résumé`. Chris Jericho has done it all. He’s held all the major championships. I mean this title list speaks for its self. I don’t need to do much talking after looking at that.

Chris Jericho has beaten just about everyone that has mattered. Chris Benoit, Triple H, Jordan Williams, Damien Diamond, Kurt Angle, The Rock. The list goes on and on. Chris Jericho has beaten some of these guys two and three times. Jericho has also been involved in his fair share of high profile feuds. Who can forget Benoit vs. Jericho, Jericho vs. Triple H and the infamous appearances they made on Judge Judy and Jerry Springer? That was some classic material. Like I said, Chris Jericho has consistently been a GREAT performer. Chris Jericho is in his prime. Is Jericho the biggest? No. Is Jericho the fastest? No. Is Jericho the most technically sound competitor?

No. However, he has gelled all that and has become a consistent performer. It’s just that simple.

Let’s all stop what we’re doing and give Chris Jericho a round of applause, because he certainly deserves it. He is truly a Living Legend. To answer the question is Chris Jericho underrated? Is he worthy of the accolade. “King of The World”? The answer is a simple YES!
