Welcome to the first issue of "From The Desk Of......" Now every issue, GCW Monthly goes to the Owners of GCW & ask them for their views on certain topics (Both OOC & In Character) & this is this month's topic.

NO SHOW - NOT ROLEPLAYING

Let's start with Mike Johnson;
"
I’m here to talk about not Rping for matches. Now, I’m sure all of you who’ve been here for a while know how I feel about this issue. Along with changing the cards, not Rping for matches really get on my nerves, because I hate having squash matches. Don’t get me wrong, they’re easy to write, but I prefer all matches be Rped for. Just a note to all the new guys, and this should go without saying, please RP for your matches, so we don’t have to write squash matches. It makes your character and our results look a hell of a lot better."

Mark Ward;
"This has always been a strong opinon of mine and more so lately with all the new guys appearing.  If people wanna catch our eye, then missing the first match is the wrong way to go. I personally can't stand it when I actually take the time to do all the stuff I do for new guys. I add every new app to the roster, find music, make plans for them judging by their sample roleplays and for them not to show up is a waste of my time and an insult. While we book these guys and they no show, we could have booked someone else who would have shown up and made it more worth while for the people around them. I think it's time we seriously crack down on these people. People who miss their first match should be dropped from our rosters and not given a second chance. Why should we let people waste our time when we all have lives away from the fed? To me, these no shows for new guys are just a waste of my time, my fellow bosses time and the time of the people around them. No shows stop other guys who have a point to prove. It's not easy to make a name for yourself in a fed with a huge roster and no shows just stop people from attempting to make their mark here. "

Casey Holcombe;

"I have been asked to give my views on the topic of people no showing and not roleplaying in the GCW. My opinion is quite simple, I hate it. Have I done it in the past? Yes unfortunately I have been guilty of not roleplaying for a match but there are many people here in the GCW that have made it a habit of theirs. No showing not only hurts your guys but it hurts other people too. We as the writers have to compensate for the no shows by writing a lot more to make up for the squashes that will be in the results. That is another thing. If you no show to a match and do not give any of the staff members some notice, you WILL be squashed in your match. I don't care if you are the World Champion at the time and it is a 3 Stages Of Hell match for the World Title. If you no show, you are losing your title and you are losing it in the most embarrassing way the writer can come up with. Trust us when I say this, you don't want us to come up with an embarrassing way for you to lose cause I am going to embarrass the hell out of your guy and someone like Mike will probably put your character in a coma...loll. But all jokes aside, don't no-show without warning. It really pisses us off. Its not that hard to get in contact with someone on the staff. We all have AIM and email and we are on both a lot. Up at school I am on AIM 24/7 so just leave a message or something. Or you can post a quick note on the OUCH board. Someone will see it. Just make an effort to get in contact with us. And if you do no show and you don't like the results of your match well too f*cking bad. I for one will not even listen to you if you want to complain that you didn't like the way your guy lost if you no showed. If you no show and I have your match, I swear to you that your guy losing is the least of what you have to worry about. You have to realize that we all have other lives then this fed. I would rather be going out with friends than sitting on my computer booking a card and then have you not even show up for your match. And that brings me to my personal number one pet peeve about no showing, and that is when someone personally comes to me and requests a match. I book the match and they no show. Why the f*ck did you request the match in the first place? You do that more than 3 times to me and I promise I will have you fired. Once again I don't care if you have a title or not at the time. You will have your title stripped without second thought.

Don't complain to us if you are the one no showing to your matches. People complain that the results come up to late. That the cards come up too late and they don't have time because of this. This is bull*hit. The reason why the cards come up late is not because of us, it is because of you people who do not role-play. Because of you, we have to work extra on the results just to make them better. If we just had a bunch of squashes and put those up, then people would start complaining about the quality of results. It is an never ending progress. It is very simple people. The quality of the results is not up to the staff, it is up to you and how you role-play. If you roleplay awesome, then you are gonna have an awesome match written for you. If you no show, then you are gonna have a shitty match written. Also the results would get up faster cause the staff would actually WANT to write the matches. You might think that writing squashes is easier. Of course it is, they are a few sentences. But they are not fun to write once you do them over and over and over again and can't be creative like we can when two people really roleplay their asses off.

You want to be in the main event? Then you have to rp. You think that Hot Stuff, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Damien Diamond, Rix Usher, etc, got where they are right now by not roleplaying? This is why these guys are in the main event every show in some way. It is why they are in the main event of the PPVs. They work their asses off every match even when it is against a less tough opponent. The bottom line is that if you want to get somewhere in this business then you have to roleplay. That's enough for now, thanks for listening to my ranting."

Craig Suchodolski;

Ya know, I do understand that from time to time, things come up and there are just incidents where you just aren't able to RP. It happens to everyone every now and then, including the bosses. I see a lot of guys in GCW who bust their asses all the time, and maybe every now and then they'll miss a match, but typically for a good reason. That is something I can fully understand. But then there's those other people. The people who seem to NOT roleplay more than they RP. Honestly, that's just waste of everyone's time, theirs and ours. It wastes our time because we book them, it wastes their opponents time because they've actually RPed, and it wastes the persons time because there is no point in them even being in an e-fed in they aren't going to RP. The thing that drives me the most insane is that when people don't RP for their matches, and then complain about their lack of push, or ask for a title shot. The fact is, there's a very simple way to do good in GCW... do your damn RPs. Just try your hardest and while you may not always win, you'll be more rewarded than if you no-show. Because I'll tell you all right now, if you no-show enough times that you start to piss us off, I don't care who you are or how good you are, your ass will be gone for good, no questions asked.

These are the honest & uncut version of the views of the Owners. Now what they say do make sense & if there is anyone out there who feel otherwise.
